Love Will Keep us Working at it
Mar 01, 2020
I've been having some great convos with great people lately about relationships. Not just romantic ones; I'm talking about relationships with our parents, friends, co-workers, and even mailmen (people still get mail right?). Relationships take work, and that's a challenge when we've been trained to think that once something has happened, it'll be like that forever. Relationships don't go on autopilot, and when they do, they'll start to take a dip. As my mom says, "love doesn't pay the bills". Often, love is seen as the glue to keep things together, when really, love is the fuel to keep us holding on to each other. Love can also be the reason we need to let go. Can we love someone enough to admit it if we're not good around each other? I can't answer that question for you, I can only ask it so we abandon the Disney definitions. This journey as Humble The Poet has me working harder now than any other time in my life. This is more stress, work, and energy than anything I did in school (and I have two degrees) and any job I've ever worked. It's not meant to be easy, it's mean to be fulfilling, and my love for it fuels me to keep going. The same can apply to our relationships with everything else. #Love is not enough, it's just the beginning.
